Thomas Paine

If you have never read anything from Thomas Paine (1737-1809),  then I highly suggest you to read the writing he did titled, “The Age of Reason.”

Quote: “I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish chuch, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of.  My own mind is my own church.

All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian, or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit.”

Now, this guy believed fully and completely in a God, but argues quite elaborately and accurately, the fundamental problems with all of the popular religions, and how horribly they treat the One God.  I find it exhilarating to find someone who so accurately painted the picture which I have painted for myself in my own mind concerning religion and God.

Read that essay and you will then understand in a different way how I came to my conclusions about God via the science of Cosmology.

Cosmology is the detailed study of the universe.  To place humankind above or outside the story of the universe is dangerously egotistical.
