My man, Ron Paul is getting press now only this is the press that pissed off unimaginative assholes like to put out.  Ron Paul voted against a bill that was mostly about Amber Alerts (kidnapped children).  His vote against is being touted as Ron Paul being uncaring about the welfare of children.  First, use logic here.  Ron Paul is a Doctor.  He’s an OB/GYN that has delivered over 4000 babies.  Now ask yourself if Ron Paul doesn’t have the welfare of children in his heart.  That should right off be a, NO.  Ok, still doubting?  Try this one:  He never votes for something without becoming intimately knowledgeable about it.  Hmm, imagine that, a Congressman that actually WANTS to know about the laws he’s voting on.

Well, it just so happens that this Amber Alert bill had a very high chance of being passed by Congress.  When this occurs, lawmakers like to tossing a line here and there about things that have nothing to do with the original act.  Lawmakers do this all the time and I believe that one of the terms used is called a “poison pill”, which has the opposite affect of making a good law look bad by adding crap to it that is irrelevant.  Well this Amber Alert law was mostly good stuff that, had it ran alone, would have been fine.  Only it wasn’t alone.  Lawmakers added a set of laws that are being refered to as the “Rave Act” which, in short, reduces the rights of any citizen in this country to assemble, no matter what the object of assembly is about.  Be it a band, a protest, a fair, and so on.  These laws are a direct attack on the 1st Amendment RIGHT to Assemble.

The law relates to illicit drugs such as, oh, marijuana.  What happens is that if someone, say, Jason Patino, puts on a block party and at any time during that party a cop finds that ANYONE has a joint on them, then Jason will face federal prison time and up to a 250,000 dollar fine.  That’s on the smaller and more localized level.  Nationally, what about going to a Tom Petty concert?  Yeah, there’s no doubt there will be a lot of pot being passed around.  Tom Petty is now a federal criminal.  Nice eh?  What does any of that shit have to do with children being kidnapped?  Nothing at all.  Here’s something to note.  This “Rave Act” was attempted to pass once before on it’s own but was protested against so starkly that it was dropped.  Now, because the Ravers weren’t paying attention to Amber Alert laws, they had no chance to protest and now the laws are passed and in effect.  Now do you understand what Ron Paul is about?  He’s going to do what is right every time.  Ron Paul cares so much about you and I that he’s willing to sacrifice his entire career and reputation in order to keep us out from under the thumb of our own Government.

On the side note here, even when Ron Paul wins the Presidential election, he’s still not going to be able to do all that he’s been trying to do all of his political life.  He’s going to have to deal with Congress.  The same Congress that he’s been a part of and fighting against for the last 20 years.  What I’m saying is that once he’s in the White House, the next step is to vote your existing Congressman out of his chair.  Or at least look at what YOUR Congressman has been doing and make sure that he’s on your side and not on the side of Wal-Mart or the World Bank.
