More Cooking

Since I bought the grille, I’ve cooked up my classic spicy burgers, some terrible steaks, and brats.  I also used the deep fryer for making home-made french fries.

I won’t count the steaks since they were those prepackaged deals.  They just tasted bad.

Original Spicy Burgers – 4.5
It’s difficult to improve on an already perfect mix of spices:  Habanero, Red Pepper, Garlic, Black Pepper, Dried Onions all mashed into the burger by hand-kneeding.  Imagine biting into a burger that doesn’t need katsup, mustard or mayo… that’s how these work.  Are they hot?  Not as hot as you would think.  The habanero mixes with the grease, as does the red pepper.  It’s hot enough to make your nose run and maybe take a drink but not unpleasantly so.  The kids ate it and they range from 6 to 10.  The 6 year old was the only one that really complained but he ate it all.

Quick French Fries – 4.0
Not bad and it was quick to do while the burgers were cooking.  Just have to be really careful when you first load them into the oil.  All the water in the fries makes the oil bubble up fast.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies – 4.0
Very yummy and my first attempt at cookies.  I just used the recipe from the quaker oatmeal lid.  Bought myself an electric mixer just for this recipe.  The other thing I learned is that the cookies my  mom used to make that had the dark bottoms from being burned was due to her not cooking them on a cookie sheet.  They have no lids and allow the cookie to cook evenly, the lidded ones do not.
