St Augustine’s most retarded statement ever

I will research this quote in order to get the full 100% confirmation that it was spoken and if so, the context in which it was said.  However, and without further ado, I present to you the stupidest thing that was ever spoken by the ’esteemed’ St. Augustine:

’There is another form of temptation, even more fraught with danger.  This is the disease of curiosity.  It is this which drives us to try and discover the secrets of nature, those secrets which are beyond our understanding, which can avail us nothing and which man should not wish to learn’

It is exactly this stupid mentality that is shared among most christians of the day.  Yet, I see christians everywhere driving cars, flying planes, using their computers to spew their bullshit and let us not forget the most fundamental of them all, electricity.  All these things are a result of uncovering the secrets of nature.  Those same secrets that Augustine said that we should just not wish to learn.

So you know what?  Either you live like an Amish family, if not lower then that, or you are an infidel to your religion.

It is this thinking that I contended with while I was attempting to be a faithful christian.  It is this thinking that divided my mind to the point where I felt like I wore two faces, and that it was normal to do so…  IT IS NOT NORMAL to have to keep two minds on life.  One for ’faith’ and one for ’reality’.  The two are mutually exclusive.

If there ever was a purpose for humans to be alive, it would be for the sole purpose of pioneering the universe.  Curiosity is the very core of mankind, it is the very reason for our continued existence and will be the only way in which we will survive our uncertain but exciting future.

Oh, and FUCK St Augustine!
